Indexing issues with recent blog articles

#1087244
  • Hello RankMath Support,

I’ve noticed some indexing problems on our website and would like your help to confirm if anything on the RankMath side might be causing them.

Specifically, a few of our recent blog posts (for example: https://evaboot.com/blog/sales-navigator-personas) were ranking well in Google, but then suddenly dropped out of the index. I had to manually request re-indexing through Google Search Console to get them back.

    From what I can see:

-The meta robots tag is set to index, follow.

-The canonical is correctly pointing to the URL itself.

-The page is included in our sitemap.

-There are no explicit “noindex” directives in the HTML.

Given this, I’d like to know if there could be any RankMath-related configuration or technical issue that might explain why some newer posts are being de-indexed.

    Thank you for your support,
    Ophélie

  • Hello,

We apologize for the indexing issues you are facing with your recent blog articles. Thank you for providing detailed information about your setup; it helps us understand the situation better.

Based on what you’ve shared, here are a few things to consider that might help resolve the indexing problems:

    1. Internal Linking Structure: Ensure that your important pages have internal links from other relevant pages on your website. This can help Google discover and index them more effectively. You can set your important pages as pillar content and let Rank Math suggest relevant internal links.

    2. Duplicate Content: Check if the pages you’re trying to index are duplicated elsewhere on your website. If you find duplicates, consider adding a canonical tag pointing to the original content that you want to index.

    3. Content Quality: Conduct a content audit to identify any outdated or low-quality content that may be affecting your site’s overall quality score. Improving or removing such content can positively impact your indexing status.

    4. Sitemap Issues: Make sure that your sitemap is correctly submitted to Google Search Console and that it reflects the latest changes on your site. You can refer to our guide on fixing sitemap issues for more details.

    5. Monitoring Indexation Status: Utilize the Index Status report in Rank Math’s Analytics to keep an eye on your pages’ indexation status. This can help you identify any specific issues that may arise.

If you’ve checked all these aspects and are still experiencing issues, it might be beneficial to have a professional review your Rank Math setup to ensure everything is configured correctly according to the latest SEO standards. You can consider our professional setup service for comprehensive assistance, which requires a PRO subscription.

    Hello,

We’ve checked your robots.txt, and you have a rule to disallow URLs on your site.

    Disallow: /blog/*/*

The URL you shared matches the rule inside your robots.txt, so crawling those is blocked by that rule.

Here’s a guide you can follow to edit your robots.txt:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/cant-edit-robots-txt/

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello Reinelle,

Thanks for your reply. I just want to clarify something: this rule should only apply to URLs with two levels after /blog (e.g. /blog/fr/article), not to single-slug articles like /blog/sales-navigator-personas.

From my understanding, https://evaboot.com/blog/sales-navigator-personas does not match that disallow rule.

Could you please double-check whether RankMath might be outputting something else (meta robots, canonical tags, schema, or sitemap directives) that could explain why new posts like this are being de-indexed?

    Thanks!

    Hi Reinelle,

I just wanted to follow up on my message above to make sure you see it, as this issue is rather urgent for us.

    Looking forward to your answer.
    Thanks,
    Ophélie

    Hello,

We sincerely apologize for the unexpected delay in our response and for the confusion.

You’re correct, the URL you’ve shared is not blocked by the robots.txt. We went ahead and checked the page further, but were not able to find any issue there that may deindex the URL from SERPs:

Also, the page is currently indexed on Google:

If you face the issue again with some other URLs, please test them in the URL Inspection Tool and share the screenshot of the result with us: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9012289?hl=en

You can use any image-sharing tool like https://imgur.com/upload to share the screenshot with us so that we can check the issue further for you.

However, it looks like you’re currently using the Rank Math PRO plugin on your websites, but the account you have used to open this ticket is the Rank Math free version.

Please search and forward a receipt from FastSpring.com so we can locate your account and verify it.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Thank you for your reply. If the issue comes up again with other URLs, I’ll make sure to share a screenshot.

I work at Evaboot but I wasn’t the one who initially set up RankMath, so I created this account to open the ticket. If you need to verify the license, the user and email address associated with the purchase is j***********@e**********

    Best,
    Ophélie
