Favicon

I’m reaching out regarding an issue with my site’s favicon not appearing in Google search results.

The favicon has been properly added and configured on my website for over two weeks now. It displays correctly in browser tabs (as shown in the attached screenshot), and it’s implemented in all the required places.

Despite this, Google still doesn’t display the favicon in search results. I understand that changes like this can take some time to appear, but after two weeks with no update, I’m concerned something might be wrong or misconfigured.

Could you please help me determine if this is an issue on my end, or if there’s anything else I should be doing to ensure the favicon shows up in Google search?

Thank you in advance for your support!

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your site’s favicon not appearing in Google search results. It’s great to hear that you’ve already added and configured the favicon correctly on your website and that it displays well in browser tabs.

As you mentioned, it can take some time for Google to update its index and reflect changes like favicons in search results. However, if it has been over two weeks, there are a few things you can check:

    1. Clear Cache: Ensure that you clear your site, plugin, or any server-level cache. Sometimes cached versions of your site may prevent the latest changes from being displayed.

    2. Google’s Favicon Crawler: Keep in mind that Google’s favicon crawler may take some time to revisit your site. You can refer to Google’s guidelines for more information on how favicons are indexed.

    3. Check for Errors: Use tools like Google Search Console to check if there are any errors related to your favicon or other indexing issues.

If everything seems correct on your end and the favicon still does not appear after some more time, it might be worth reaching out to a human agent for further assistance. Please reply to this ticket with your site URL so we can investigate further.

Thank you for raising this concern! We’re here to help you resolve it.

    Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

Please note that Rank Math doesn’t handle the favicons. From your screenshot, you’re referring to the website logo which is not for this purpose.

It is usually your theme that is generating the favicon so you need to make sure that your favicon is properly configured. You may check with your theme author for that or you may refer to this guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-favicon/.

Even so, it is up to Google to decide if they wish to insert the icon on the SERP, it will depend on several factors, and website authority is one of those factors.https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/favicon-in-search

Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any other questions.
