Unsual low SEO score

Hello I’m setting up the Keywords for my pages and I’m running into unusual low scores for both of my pages. The main issue I’m spotting is that the keywords I want to use are made of 2 words: Kung Fu & Tai Chi.

If I set up Kung Fu or Tai Chi as main key word I get a SEO score of around 20-30, but these are clearly the keywords. They are present in the slug, in the title and in the meta description. MAth Rank recognizes its presence in the Meta Description, but not in the title, so I guess thats why the score is so low. I tried different formats, such as: taichi, tai, chi, tai-chi with mixed results. Using only “Tai” or “Kung” makes MathRank recognize the first part in the title and ups the score to 70+.

If I use the name of my location, which is also present in Title + Meta description the score ups to 67.

Should I ignore the low SEO score and keep using Kung Fu & Tai Chi as my keywords? is it better to use my location keyword as it gives a better score? Or should I separate the key words in 2: Tai, Chi / Kung, Fu ?

    Thanks in advance

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you’re facing with the low SEO scores for your pages. It sounds like you’re doing a great job by including your keywords in the slug, title, and meta description. However, it’s important to understand how Rank Math evaluates these elements to provide an accurate SEO score.

When using multi-word keywords like "Kung Fu" and "Tai Chi," ensure that they are included in the title in a way that is both natural and relevant. Here are a few tips to improve your SEO score while still focusing on your desired keywords:

    1. Include Both Keywords in the Title: If possible, try to incorporate both "Kung Fu" and "Tai Chi" into your title. For example, a title like "Kung Fu & Tai Chi Classes in [Your Location]" could help improve your score.

    2. Use Variations: Consider using variations of your keywords that might be more commonly searched. For instance, you could use phrases like "Kung Fu and Tai Chi Training" or "Learn Kung Fu & Tai Chi."

    3. Focus on Content Quality: Ensure that the content on your page is high-quality and relevant to the keywords you are targeting. This can help improve your overall SEO performance.

    4. Check for Readability: Make sure that your title is not too long or stuffed with keywords, as this can negatively impact readability and SEO.

    5. Consider User Intent: Think about what users are searching for when they look for Kung Fu or Tai Chi classes. If location-based searches are common, it might be beneficial to include your location in the title while still emphasizing your main keywords.

Ultimately, while a higher SEO score can be beneficial, it’s essential to prioritize relevance and user intent. If "Kung Fu" and "Tai Chi" are the primary focus of your content, it may be worth continuing to optimize for those keywords despite the lower score.
