Duplicate Sitemap Versions Detected – Assistance Needed

#1063976
  • Hi Rank Math Support Team,

I’ve noticed an issue with my sitemap setup and would like your help in clarifying it.

When crawling my website https://aov.ai/ using Screaming Frog, I found that multiple versions of the same sitemap files are appearing:

    https://aov.ai/post-sitemap.xml

    https://aov.ai/page-sitemap.xml

    https://aov.ai/case-study-sitemap.xml

These same files are being listed twice in the crawl report, even though they appear to be identical URLs. I’ve attached a screenshot from Screaming Frog showing this behavior.

Could you please help me understand why this duplication is occurring?
Is this a configuration issue within Rank Math, a crawling artifact, or something else I need to resolve?

    Looking forward to your insights.
    Thank you!

    Best regards,
    Darwin

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the duplicate sitemap versions. This can happen due to a few reasons, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the duplication:

    1. Check for Plugin Conflicts: Sometimes, other plugins can interfere with the sitemap generation. You can use the Health Check plugin to identify any conflicts.

    2. Review Your Sitemap Settings: Ensure that your sitemap settings in Rank Math are configured correctly. You can check this by navigating to Rank Math SEO → Sitemap Settings in your WordPress dashboard.

    3. Clear Cache: If you are using a caching plugin, clear your cache to ensure that the latest version of your sitemap is being served.

    4. Inspect robots.txt: Make sure that there are no rules in your robots.txt file that might be affecting how search engines crawl your sitemaps.

    5. Submit Sitemap Index: Ensure that you are submitting the main Sitemap Index (usually found at `https://rankmath.com/kb/website-disappeared-from-google-search/) to Google Search Console instead of individual sitemaps. This helps Google understand the structure of your sitemaps better.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please reply to this ticket with any additional details or screenshots, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

Thank you for your patience, and we look forward to helping you resolve this issue!

    Hello,

We checked your main sitemap but were not able to find these duplicate sub-sitemap URLs there:

    null

These URLs should be automatically redirected to the main URLs. Since the URLs are not getting redirected, please get in touch with your hosting provider, and they will assist you in achieving this redirection.

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.
