  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the Instant Indexing Google status check returning a 404 error. A 404 error indicates that the requested URL does not exist on your website. This can happen for several reasons, such as the page being deleted, the URL being incorrect, or broken links pointing to a non-existent page.

To resolve this issue, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check the URL: Ensure that the URL you are trying to access is correct and that the page has not been moved or deleted.
    2. Redirect Removed Pages: If the page has been moved, create a 301 redirect from the old URL to the new one. This helps preserve any link equity from the old URL. You can refer to our guide on how to fix 404 errors for more details.
    3. Fix Broken Links: Check for any internal or external links pointing to the missing page and update them accordingly.
    4. Create a Custom 404 Page: Design a user-friendly 404 page that guides visitors to helpful content on your site.

If you continue to experience issues, please reply to this ticket with your site URL so that a human agent can assist you further. Thank you for raising this concern!

    Hello,

That error means the URL was still not processed by the Indexing API from Google. It’s important to note that the requirements for that have changed and now the URLs go through rigorous spam detection.

Besides that, the guidelines now state that this is exclusive to a particular set of websites, so if your website doesn’t fall under that category or is considered spammy the submission will go through but the API will never parse the URLs.

You can check the full guidelines here: https://developers.google.com/search/apis/indexing-api/v3/quickstart

    Looking forward to helping you.

My website is job posting, to be very specific internship posting site

    Hello,

It does qualify for the Indexing API. However, please note that Google now applies strict spam and quality checks.

Our plugin submits the URLs correctly, but if Google rejects them, it’s due to their guidelines, not an issue with the plugin. Unfortunately, we cannot influence Google’s acceptance.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any other questions.

    Hello,

Please use the API Console to Publish/Update the URL once, then use the Get URL status action again.

We hope this resolves the issue for you. If you still face any problems or have any questions, please let us know. We’re always here to help.

Thank you for choosing Rank Math.

    Hello,

Yes, what you’re seeing is normal behavior under the current Google Indexing API guidelines. Since your site is focused on job or internship postings, it technically qualifies for the Instant Indexing API(Please ensure the URLs you are submitting are Job postings). However, Google now performs more stringent spam and quality checks, even on eligible sites.

What you can do moving forward is to:

    – Make sure your content meets Google’s quality guidelines.

    – Avoid thin content or pages that look low-quality or autogenerated.

    – Continue posting high-quality, structured content, especially with valid JobPosting schema where applicable.

Hope that helps, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
