Hi there, I’ve tried looking at your knowledge base articles and undergone the schema setup etc, however I don’t think it points to what I’m after, please can you help:

My client wants to have their Google Reviews stars shown/attached to underneath the search results of their pages that show. Please can you help me on how to add this? I have RankMath and Elementor Pro used for the website. I have tried searching online and through your articles however I’ve not been successful.

Please can the instructions be as simple and straightforward as possible so I can understand as I’m new to the ‘schema’ side of things like this, obviously I use RankMath for every client website I design so I know how to setup the SEO side but I’ve never known how to add Google Reviews stars underneath search results so please instrcut on how to.

    Much appreciated,
    Tom

  • Hello,

I apologize for the issue you are facing. To display Google Reviews stars under your search results, you will need to implement the appropriate Schema markup for reviews. Here’s a straightforward guide on how to do this using Rank Math:

Steps to Add Review Schema Markup:

    1. Enable the Schema Module: Ensure that the Schema module is enabled in Rank Math. You can do this by navigating to Rank Math SEO → Dashboard in your WordPress admin area.

    2. Edit Your Page/Post: Go to the page or post where you want to add the review schema.

    3. Add Schema Markup:

      • Scroll down to the Rank Math meta box below the content editor.
      • Click on the Schema tab.
      • Select Add Schema and choose Review or Product schema type depending on what you are reviewing.
    4. Fill in the Details: Enter the necessary details such as:

      • Review rating (e.g., 4.5)
      • Review count
      • Author of the review
      • Date of the review
      • Any other relevant information.
    5. Save Changes: Once you have filled in all the required fields, make sure to save or update your page/post.

    6. Validate Your Schema: After implementing the schema, use Google’s Rich Results Testing Tool to validate that your schema markup is correct.

    Important Notes:

    • Google decides whether to show star ratings based on various factors, including the quality of your content and how well it adheres to their guidelines. Even with correct schema markup, it’s not guaranteed that stars will appear in search results.
    • Make sure you are following Google’s Review Snippet Guidelines for best practices.

If you find this process challenging or need more comprehensive assistance, we recommend considering our Rank Math Professional Setup Service. This service is designed for users who want to ensure their plugin setup is fully correct and adheres to the latest SEO standards, and it requires a PRO subscription.

Thanks to AI for the reply, however there is no ‘review’ schema option at all, don’t think it’s for RankMath pro either. I did try and locate this already. Please assist

    Hello,

As mentioned by a Google product expert, the reviews gathered externally, meaning outside the website, such as the Google reviews should not be added to the markup: https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/279394639/review-schema-using-google-store-ratings-program?hl=en

Also, if you have a Google Business profile page with ratings and reviews already, and they are linked to your website, the reviews will eventually show together within your website on the search results pages.

It’s not that you can’t add the star ratings based on the GMB reviews you have on your profile, but that goes against Google guidelines and as such, it’s not recommended to do so because you could incur a manual penalty.

It’s important to note that the Google reviews you are showing on your website are considered self-serving so it’s against the Google guidelines to add them to the Schema markup: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/structured-data/review-snippet

In the long run, if Google catches on to this, you will incur manual penalties and hinder your SEO.
