Sitemap Showing 0 Discovered URLs on Search ConsoleI submitted my sitemap about a month ago now, and it’s been sitting at 0 discovered URLs ever since. I am using WordPress and rankmath to generate it, and the only page that’s been indexed has been my home page.

I would be very thankful to anyone that might help me find the issue.

Here is a link to my sitemap: sitemap_index.xml

But the link https://telefonreview.com/sitemap_index.xml?rank-math-sitemap=1 works and reads all files.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your sitemap showing 0 discovered URLs in Google Search Console. Thank you for providing the link to your sitemap. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Validate Your Sitemap: Use the Validate XML Sitemap tool to ensure your sitemap is correctly configured. This will help identify any potential issues.

    2. Ensure Posts Are Set to Index: Check that your posts are set to index. Go to Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta and ensure the Index checkbox is enabled for your posts.
      Index Titles and Meta settings

    3. Check Robots.txt File: Make sure that your robots.txt file is not blocking the sitemap or any of your pages. You can check this in Rank Math SEO → General Settings → robots.txt.

    4. Custom Canonicals: If you have set custom canonical URLs for your posts, they may not appear in the sitemap. Ensure that you are using the default canonical settings unless necessary.

    5. Submit the Correct Sitemap URL: Ensure that you are submitting the correct sitemap URL to Google Search Console, which should be `https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-change-canonical-url/.

If after following these steps you still encounter issues, please reply to this ticket with any additional details or errors you might be seeing, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

Thank you for your patience, and we hope to resolve this issue for you soon!

    Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

    Please follow the steps below:

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

    3. Apply the following filter code to your site.

    add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

Here’s how you can add filter to your WordPress site:https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/

    4. Remove all your sitemaps from your Google Search Console and re-submit only the index sitemap (https://website.com/sitemap_index.xml)

If the issue persists, please share the latest screenshot of the sitemap report from your GSC account.

Also, check for URLs in your Google Search Console and look for any coverage issues that may tell us why your website is not being indexed on the SERP. You may refer to this guide: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7440203?hl=en

    Looking forward to helping you.

Unfortunately, this method didn’t work for me. I don’t even use a cache plugin on WordPress, fearing that this might be the cause of the problem. Is there a problem with using: sitemap_index.xml?rank-math-sitemap=1 like this? https://telefonreview.com/sitemap_index.xml?rank-math-sitemap=1

    Hello,

Please note that the Discovered URLs 0 that you see in Google Search Console just means that the URLs in the sitemap were already found by Googlebot by other means, instead of via the sitemap. For example, Googlebot may have found the URLs from internal links or possibly from links on another site. It mostly happens when you have good internal linking or use the Instant Indexing plugin.

Here’s a link you can check for more information:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/zero-discovered-urls-through-sitemap/

Regarding the parameter, Rank Math generates your sitemap at /sitemap_index.xml. Submitting your sitemap with the parameter (?rank-math-sitemap=1) to Google Search Console (GSC) is not recommended. While Google can technically crawl URLs with parameters, it’s best practice to submit the clean version of the sitemap URL: https://telefonreview.com/sitemap_index.xml

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.
