I was advised by my hosting provider (BigScoots) to contact you regarding a Google Consent Mode script that appears on my website. My traffic has recently flatlined, and upon inspection, they found the following script loading before Google Tag Manager:
gtag(‘consent’, ‘default’, {
ad_storage: ‘denied’,
analytics_storage: ‘denied’,
functionality_storage: ‘denied’,
personalization_storage: ‘denied’,
security_storage: ‘granted’
});BigScoots believes this may be coming from RankMath, but when I check the Analytics settings in the plugin, I haven’t connected my Google account, and I’m not using RankMath to manage GA tracking.
Could you please clarify:
Does RankMath inject this Consent Mode script even if Google Analytics is not connected?
If so, how can I disable or modify it so it doesn’t interfere with CookieYes, which is currently managing Consent Mode on my site?
Could this script be causing Google Analytics not to fire, resulting in no traffic showing up?
Thank you for your help!
Best regards,
