How to add LocalBusiness Schema for Business Without Physical Locations

    Rank Math free

We run a service-based business (excavation services) based in Sydney and provide our services across multiple suburbs and regions throughout Greater Sydney. However, we do not have a physical office or store in every location we service — we operate from a central office and serve clients on-site.

We are currently using Rank Math on our WordPress website and would like to implement LocalBusiness schema effectively to help improve our local SEO and visibility in each service area.

    Could you please advise:

How can we add LocalBusiness schema using Rank Math for service areas (suburbs) where we operate but don’t have a physical address?

Is it possible to create location-specific service pages (e.g., /excavation-contractor/bonnet-bay/) and apply LocalBusiness or Service schema to each using Rank Math?

Should we use “Service” schema instead for these pages?

What’s the best practice to mark our service area coverage (entire Sydney or specific suburbs) within the structured data using Rank Math?

Any guidance or best practices on how to structure this using Rank Math’s schema builder or location settings would be much appreciated.

    Looking forward to your advice.

  • Hello,

Thank you so much for getting in touch.

Since you operate from a central office and serve clients across multiple suburbs, we recommend adding the LocalBusiness Schema for your main business location via Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Local SEO. For suburb-specific service pages like /excavation-contractor/bonnet-bay/, you can apply the Service Schema using Rank Math’s Schema Builder and tailor it to each location.

To indicate the areas you serve within your structured data, Rank Math supports modifying the areaServed property using a custom filter. This allows you to add multiple service suburbs or regions to your LocalBusiness schema without needing a physical address in each. You can follow this guide to implement it: https://rankmath.com/kb/add-multiple-areaserved-cities-to-localbusiness-schema/.

This approach ensures you’re following Google’s guidelines while still improving visibility in your target areas.

Please do note that some of the steps from the guide require access to Rank Math PRO.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any other questions.
