Possible server errors from rankmath

#1029328
  • My name is Liz and I am working on the wordpress site at my current job and we are using wordpress, elementor pro, and rankmath.

I’ve been having a few ‘seemingly random’ 504 server errors here and there that are becoming more frequent, and one of the other employees is claiming that rankmath is the source of these issues (or having a bad interaction with another plugin).

A few more details on these issues im having on the site, when i’m editing pages in elementor the drafts aren’t saving, i’m getting 504 errors sometimes when i try to publish pages, and sometimes (very picky) I get server errors or web page not responding errors when simply trying to upload an image to the media panel.

I personally didn’t think the issues are coming from rank math, seeing as i was having a few of said issues before we switched to you guys from yoast. But, I thought it was worth a shot mabe asking you if you know of any plugins that had bad or weird interactions with rank math, and I could check and compare with the plugins we have?

The website is a bit of a mess and I’ve been doing my best to fix someone else’s mistakes, so there could very well be other possibilities.

Hope to hear from you soon, thank you!

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issues you are facing with your WordPress site. It sounds quite frustrating to deal with these 504 server errors and the problems with saving drafts in Elementor.

While Rank Math is designed to work well with most plugins, there can be instances where conflicts arise, especially with caching plugins or security features like ModSecurity. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check for Plugin Conflicts: Temporarily deactivate other plugins one by one to see if the issue persists. This can help identify if a specific plugin is causing the conflict.

    2. Server Configuration: Since you are experiencing 504 errors, it might be worth checking with your hosting provider about server configurations, especially if ModSecurity is enabled. Sometimes, this feature can block requests from plugins like Rank Math, leading to errors. You may need to ask them to disable it temporarily to see if it resolves the issue.

    3. Increase PHP Limits: Ensure that your PHP memory limit and execution time are set high enough. You can ask your hosting provider to increase these limits if necessary.

    4. Debugging: Use Rank Math’s debugging features to check for any redirection issues or errors that might be occurring. You can find more information on how to perform a self-diagnosis in our troubleshooting guide.

    5. Elementor Settings: Sometimes, issues with Elementor can be resolved by adjusting its settings or ensuring that it is updated to the latest version.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please reply to this ticket with your site URL so we can assist you further. A human agent from our support team will take over and provide more specific guidance based on your situation.

Thank you for bringing this concern to us, and we hope to help you resolve it soon!

Thank you for contacting us and we are sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

5xx errors are usually caused due to server misconfiguration or other server issues.

Can you please share the website error log with us? Having the error log file will give a clear idea of why this might be happening.

You can follow this guide to enable debugging in WordPress https://wordpress.org/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/ or you can get in touch with your web host, and they will help you locate the log file.

We are looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thank you.
