Please Remove Mobile Snapshot from Rank Math | Non-Value Adding

    Hi there,

    After using Rank Math SEO for many years, me and my team have concluded that your plugin’s SEO Analyzer feature, Mobile Snapshot is not reliable, is non-value adding, and does not contribute to improving SEO scores.

    Specifically:

    1. Mobile Snapshot depends on a Third-Party Provider (thum.io) which complicates your plugin’s code and functionality.

    2. When there’s an issue with the Mobile Snapshot display and the issue(s) are fixed, we have to wait 5-10 days before thum.io’s cache is cleared and the correct display is shown.

    3. Mobile Snapshot is unreliable. It does not display our website correctly 60% of the time — especially when compared to more reliable tools such as Lighthouse, PageSpeedInsights, DeBugBear, and WebPageTest.

    4. Mobile Snapshot does not provide anything valuable that helps improve SEO scores. If it does, please advise how and also, by the same token, please advise why your plugin does not include a “Desktop Snapshot” as well.

    In short, please delete Mobile Snapshot from your plugin. Not needed. Deleting it will save you money too (subscription service).

    I highly recommend consulting your developers and investigating this before a quick reply to our team’s request.

While we acknowledge that these limitations exist, the Mobile Snapshot feature is intended as a quick visual reference and is not meant to be a core part of SEO analysis or to replace more comprehensive tools like Lighthouse, PageSpeed Insights, or WebPageTest.

    To clarify, the Mobile Snapshot does not impact your site’s actual rankings. It is simply an optional element within the SEO Analyzer that some users find helpful when doing a surface-level review of their site. We understand that it may not offer value to every user, and we completely respect your preference to use more reliable testing platforms. Since the feature does not affect SEO in any way, it can be safely ignored if it doesn’t suit your workflow.

    At this time, we do not have immediate plans to remove the Mobile Snapshot feature, as there are users who still benefit from having it available. That said, we truly value your feedback and will share your concerns with our development team for further evaluation.

    Hi Jeremy,

    Thanks for the reply. In that case:

    1. Please improve the reliability of you snapshot module (i.e., code). Also, thum.io is not providing what you’re paying for.

    2. It makes no sense to have a Mobile Snapshot if you don’t provide a Desktop Snapshot. Please add a Desktop Snapshot to your plugin.
